Why Pick Waxing Over Shaving

Why Pick Waxing Over Shaving

Jun 15, 2019

It’s that time of year for beach trips, no sleeves, shorts, and sundresses. Now is the time to make sure any unwanted hair is gone. You could shave as needed but that could mean shaving every 1-3 days to keep your skin smooth and hairless. You might not have the time, or patience, to shave so often. It’s a good thing that shaving isn’t the only way to remove hair. Waxing is a non-permanent hair removal solution that just might work for you.

Exfoliation
Waxing doesn’t only remove hair but also acts as skin exfoliation. Trapped dirt and dead skin are removed at the same time as the hair as an added benefit. It’s another reason why waxed skin feels so much softer and smoother than shaved skin.

Regrowth
The neat thing about waxing is that eventually it affects the regrowth of hair. Because waxing pulls the hair from the root, it grows slower and finer, resulting in you having to wax less often. Shaving only cuts at the surface meaning your hair growth is not affected and will just grow as usual.

No Cuts
It’s incredibly easy to accidentally cut your skin while shaving. From small nicks to long cuts, those wounds are all painful and will scab over to become irritable as well as noticeable. Waxing can leave the skin irritated and red temporarily, but it will fade within 24 hours and leave you with smooth, soft skin.

Things to Know
If you’ve never tried waxing here’s some info for your first time. The hair in the area that's going to be waxed should be about ¼ of an inch long the day of your appointment. Lightly exfoliate the night before to get rid of dead skin and oils. Wear loose clothing around the target areas so you don’t irritate sensitive skin further.
