There’s nothing quite like a good shag this fall. We’re talking hairstyles here…It’s the basis of most of the trending styles this season, and there is a huge range from which to choose. No matter what texture Mother Nature gave you, you’re sure to find something that suits.
If you’re growing out a bob or a lob, you’re in luck. A mid-length cut with choppy layers may be just the ticket. The layers should be soft but still able to create volume, and the length should fall just above your chest. If you don’t have any natural curl or wave, just loosely braid damp hair in three big sections and let it air dry. For something similar but more polished, ask your stylist to make the layers softer.
There’s a great update on the pixie this fall, too, and yes, it’s based on the fundamental shag. It’s a classic undercut that’s left longer on the top and sides. This lets you choose to slick it back with pomade, or let it fall forward, or even part it straight down the middle for a retro look.
The texture of a layered shag cut lets you play with the options for bangs, too. Choose wispy, feathery fringe that taper and are thicker on the sides for a beachy vibe, or opt for short, blunt baby bangs for a more edgy look.
If you love your long hair, don’t despair. Long and blunt with no layering is also a strong player this fall. It’s very low maintenance, and even if you need to remove some weight, you can ask for invisible layers.
